Labor Day Weekend

It’s very easy to do a whole lot of nothing when you have an infant, but we tried to stay fairly busy this past weekend.  While it’s not as quick and easy as it used to be, we still had a relaxing weekend with some fun stuff thrown in.  The weekend started off with baby’s first trip to Eastside Pizza, our favorite local pizza joint that we’ve frequented regularly since moving into our home.  Since having Aiden, we’ve ordered it in every Friday night and had a quiet little celebration at home for making it another week, but since Nama and Paw Paw were over dining with us this Friday, we were adventurous and stepped out.  It went pretty well, but he got fussy soon after arriving.  That’s what grandparents are for.

We also got a good family shot.  We don’t have many of these yet.

Our Family

Saturday Dan had to drive up to North Georgia to look into buying a trailer (more on this in a later post) so we decided to stop at the North Georgia Outlets on the way back.  The highlight of the trip was eating Five Guys, but we walked around for at least a couple hours and Aiden did great.  There was nothing picture worthy from the trip, so here is a miscellaneous picture from the weekend of my boys watching TV.

Watching TV

Sunday we attended the Art on the Creek art festival just down the road from our house.  It was nice to be outside as the weather was lovely but the following picture pretty much sums up our feelings on the event.

Snoozing at the Art Festival

I did manage to win a cut and color (valued at $150) at a nearby salon for only $60 in a silent auction.  As you can see from the picture above, I’m in desperate need, so I was really excited about that.  We also won this hand-painted chair for $35.  It was an impulse buy, but it really is a cute chair that we have added to the nursery.

New Chair

And finally Monday we took Zeus and Callea to the dog park.  I haven’t said much about the dogs, but they’ve been great with all the change despite being more neglected than usual.  The dog park is a small part of a bigger park so after they got tired of playing off lease, we took a nice little two mile stroll around the park and let Zeus chase a couple of squirrels.  In doing so we discovered that the park also has Frisbee Golf.  So Dad, if you’re reading this, game on!  Again no pictures, but here is a shot of the dogs on Dog Beach in Huntington Beach, CA.

Dog Fight

This off-leash dog park is one of the many reasons that we’re thinking of moving back to Cali.  We went there weekly with the dogs.  This is the view from the beach.  Dan took the picture because of the helicopters.  What is it with boys and helicopters?

When we got home from the park, we had a fussy baby, so I agreed to wear him around, but only under the condition that he wear his hood.

Beth, I am really enjoying your blog. You remind me so much of your Dad with your sense of humor. You certainly have the gift of gab. Aiden is so very cute. I wish I could get my hands on him. Your blog is the next best thing. Enjoy this time because it will go by so fast although I have a feeling you will throughly enjoy all phases of Aiden’s growing up. He is a very luck little boy to have you and Dan as parents. He is also lucky to have Nama, Paw Paw, Becky, Tyler & Jimmy in his family. The Guthrie clan is a good example of what family is all about.

Wow! That one brought on the tears!
